Stockholm 1956 Olympic Equestrian Games Medal

This bronze winner’s medal was awarded during the Stockholm 1956 Olympic Equestrian Games, which were held separately from the Melbourne 1956 Olympic Games. The obverse features an ancient horse-and-rider motif with the inscription ’XVI Olympiadens Ryttartävlingar 1956 Stockholm’, designed by John Sjösvard. The reverse displays the Olympic rings and torch, based on a design by Greek artist Vasos Falireas and adopted by the International Olympic Committee.
