Sapporo 1972 Winter Olympic Games Medal

This bronze winner’s medal was awarded in the bobsleigh competition at the Sapporo 1972 Winter Olympic Games. Designed by Kazumi Yagi, the obverse features abstract lines representing soft snow and sharp ice, inspired by the serene winter landscapes of Japan. The reverse displays the official emblem of the Games and the inscription ’XI Olympic Winter Games Sapporo ’72’ in both English and Japanese. The medals were produced by Japan’s Mint Bureau.
