Designed by French graphic artist and typographer Roger Excoffon, the Grenoble 1968 medal reflects the distinctive visual identity created for the Winter Games.

Its emblem combines a snow crystal with three roses, a historic symbol associated with Grenoble, linking the host city with its winter setting.

These Games marked an important development in Olympic medal design: each sport was represented by its own pictogram on the reverse, making the medal both an award for achievement and a record of the athlete’s event.
