Beijing 2008 Olympic Mascot ‘Yingying’

The five mascots of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games were known collectively as Fuwa, or ‘good luck dolls’. Also known as ‘Friendlies’, their individual names, Beibei, Jingjing, Huanhuan, Yingying, and Nini together form the sentence ‘Beijing welcomes you’ in Chinese.

The Fuwa mascots represented the five Olympic rings, natural elements and traditional Chinese wishes of prosperity, happiness, health, luck and passion.

The mascot seen here is Yingying, who represents the earth and the wish for health. He is yellow and his design was inspired by the Tibetan antelope.
