The Cricket World Cup is a quadrennial international championship organised by the International Cricket Council (ICC). It’s the most celebrated cricket tournament attracting millions of spectators and TV viewers.
In 2011 the 10th version of the Cup took place in three countries, India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh, with India winning the title. The mascot of the Cup was ‘Stumpy’, a ten-year-old elephant that loved cricket, admired the famous cricketers, and dreamed of playing in the Cricket World Cup one day.
The young elephant’s figure was decided by the ICC, while his name was selected following an online competition. ‘Stumpy’ was commercially produced as a plush toy and had great success with kids and adults.
