The 1928 Winter Olympic Games in St. Moritz, Switzerland, were only the second Winter Olympics, after Chamonix 1924. In addition, they were the first Winter Olympic Games held as an independent event, not in conjunction with the Summer Olympics. Although the host country, Switzerland, only won a single medal (bronze in ice hockey), the event contributed to the reputation of St. Moritz as a tourist destination.
The cover of this programme, which was also printed as a commemorative postcard, showcases a work by Swiss painter and lithographer Eduard Stiefel (1875 – 1967).
