This tower ring, also known as al Burj, is a rare silver ring from Sudan.

Women of the Rashaida tribe in Eastern and central Sudan would often wear multiple rings at once, leading to a wide variety of designs. This ring features a broad cylindrical band surmounted by a tall, tower-like extension terminating in a central, rounded, domed finial. It features a hollow construction that reduces weight while maintaining height. The intricate details were created using soldering and stamping techniques. Women wore such rings as a symbol of wealth and social status.
