Delving into Arab-Islamic cultural and artistic heritage, Iraqi painter Shakir Hassan Al Saïd moved away from figurative representation and made Arabic letters the foundation of his artistic language. In Letters Pot, the Iraqi painter combines the textured surface with the dynamic movement of Arabic script to form the silhouette of a vessel filled with letters. Language and matter merge into a single composition, making the pot a space where form, lines and script intersect.
