Divers recovered a variety of Middle Eastern objects from the Cirebon / Nan-Han shipwreck, including glassware, pottery and valuable pearls.
The glass objects reflect techniques developed between the 8th and 10th centuries and attributed to Egypt, Persia and Syria. Most of the glasswork found in the shipwreck were fragments of bottle necks, such as this example, or bases of bottles of various sizes. This comes as no surprise, as part of Middle Eastern glassworks' charm was its fragility.
Along with the finely crafted flasks and glass bowls, divers recovered quantities of raw coloured glass, which were possibly shipped by merchants to be manufactured in other regions.
