The barrels of rifles from this period were often of European origin or locally manufactured without decoration. A defining characteristic of this example from Sindh is the extensive use of mother-of-pearl inlay across the entire body of the rifle. Sindh rifles like this one became highly popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries as desirable collector's pieces due to their rich ornamentation.
