Ibtihaj Muhammad is a five-time (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015) World medalist in fencing. At the 2014 World Fencing Championships, she won gold with the United States women's sabre team. At the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, she became the first Muslim-American woman to win an Olympic medal, and the first Black woman to win an Olympic medal in the sabre event.
