Divers recovered this shard of turquoise-glazed pottery from the Cirebon / Nan-Han shipwreck. Unique to the Sassanid Empire (224-651 CE), this type of pottery was commonly found in the port cities of Siraf and Bandar Abbas (modern-day Iran). Its high quality meant it was often exchanged along the Maritime Silk Road, which explains the presence of this example on the wreck.
