Raised in a Sufi household, Algerian artist Rachid Koraichi could not have found a more fitting source of inspiration for his artwork than Sufi philosophy. He would concentrate on writing, considered a fundamentally spiritual component in Sufism since truth is believed to be concealed in the letters. However, Triangles Bigames serves as an example of how Koraichi's fascination with the alphabet is visible in various traditions in addition to Islamic calligraphy. The triptych presents abstract compositions with thick black brushstrokes to depict Chinese ideograms. The compositions' vibrant backgrounds are covered with ideograms, featuring small, brightly colored abstract components like dots, squares, and triangles. The piece reveals Rachid Koraichi's artistic exploration without offering a clear, literal interpretation. His complex artworks have a strong symbolic quality that gives the pictorial elements the appearance of talismans.
