This 1976 Montreal Olympics Light Welterweight Boxing Silver Medal was awarded to boxer Andrés Aldama, who was defeated by Sugar Ray Leonard in the Gold Medal match.

The star Cuban fighter was dominant in the lead–up to the Gold Medal match, scoring knockouts over Hungarian Jozsef Nagy and Bulgarian Vladimir Kolev. However, he had the misfortune of meeting one of the sport's all–time greats in the final, dropping a 0–5 result to American legend–in–the–making, Sugar Ray Leonard. This medal is Aldama's consolation prize for that defeat.

The shimmering silver features a laurel–wreathed Victory figure on the obverse, the logo for the Montreal Games on the reverse, and the French word "Boxe" engraved on the edge.
Aldama would bounce back to claim the Gold in the Moscow Olympics four years later.
