3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum
The 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal were the first and, to date, the only Games to be held in Canada. Approximately 73,000 spectators attended the Opening Ceremony on 17 July 1976 at the city’s Olympic Stadium. The cover of the ceremony’s programme bears three flags in the foreground of the Olympic cauldron: the Olympic and Canadian flags, and one with the emblem of the 1976 Games. During the opening ceremony, two people lit the actual Olympic cauldron together, a first in the history of the Games.
