Published for the 1893–94 season, this booklet contains the official rules governing the Football League. Founded in England in 1888 by twelve clubs, the League established the world’s first league football competition.
By 1892, it had expanded to include a Second Division and 28 clubs. This booklet documents the regulations used during this formative period, offering insight into the administration and organisation of professional league football as the competition developed during the late nineteenth century.
