A series of posters were created for the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics , divided into three groups: themes, people, and sports posters.
This poster is from a set of three under the theme Sophisticated Beijing for a harmonious Olympic Games.
Made in the style of traditional Chinese painting it depicts the Forbidden City - one of the most celebrated monuments of Beijing, side by side with the National Stadium (also known as the Bird’s Nest), one of the venues built for the 2008 Games. The combination highlighted the connection between sports and culture, the Olympic Games and China.
On the left side, the poster includes the emblem and motto of the Games. One World, One Dream was inspired by the Olympic ideals and expressed the wish for peace and a bright future for everyone.
